Chartered on 1st March 1968 by the Rotary Club of Prahran, St Kilda club has established a substantial record of local community and Rotary projects, including current projects:

• organizing sales of programs, candles and food and drink for the Carols on Albert Park Lake annually
• preparing and selling a recipe book with recipes from noted restaurateurs in the St Kilda area
• involved in Bunnings Sausage sizzles to raise funds for Sacred Heart Mission and the Rotary Shelter Box project
• selling tickets in Rotary Community Raffles returning funds for Foundation and Shelter Box projects
• assisting in World Homeless Soccer Cup in December 2008
• assisting in the promotion and distribution of a World religious/cultural traditional school book
• sending smoke alarms to Bitola, Macedonia and considering marketing program to increase awareness of the need for smoke alarms in office and home.

And during our 40 years members have funded or constructed:

• First Community Bus in St Kilda
• Conducted Miss St Kilda Quest during the 70’s
• Constructing a children’s playground on St Kilda foreshore as part of Victoria’s 150th Anniversary
• Providing a gazebo in St Kilda Botanical gardens
• Supplying St Kilda SES Unit vehicles in 1983 and 1989
• Supplying a rescue craft for St Kilda Lifesaving in 1979
• Supplying Christmas hampers, excursions, Christmas lunches for elderly and disadvantaged in St Kilda
• Establishing a medical computer library in Minsk to combat effects of Chernobyl disaster as a matched project with a Rotary Club in Germany
• Helping to sink wells in Papua New Guinea
• supplying computers for St Kilda Skillshare Training Program
• hosted Australia Day Brunch for 31 years raising many thousands of dollars for local and Rotary charities including Sacred Heart Mission St Kilda and Salvation Army Bridge Rehabilitation Centre St Kilda
• organised the Annual Bed Race at the St Kilda Festival in aid of Scope for 8 years
• raised funds and arranged transport of hospital beds and medical equipment for a surgical and rehabilitation clinic in Danang Vietnam with the assistance of Melbourne Latrobe and Melbourne South Rotary Clubs and the encouragement and financial support from Lindsay Fox and Dick Pratt’s corporations and arranging matched funds from “East meets West” a USA based philanthropic organisation
• provide volunteers for the annual Port Phillip Community Ball supporting the elderly in St Kilda

We meet at Dick Whittington’s Hotel Chapel Street St Kilda on a Tuesday evening from 6pm and all visitors welcome.
